How should I look after my scissors?
It is very important that you care for your scissors. Look after them and they will repay you for years to come.
Keeping them clean is the single most important thing you can do. Use a soft leather cloth or soft (felt) material. Taking care not to cut yourself, open the blades and then from the back side, definitely not the sharp side, wipe the blades from the centre screw to the tips. This removes any debris lying on the inside of the blades that will interfere with your next haircut. Lightly apply oil to the centre screw pivot area, if using an oil pen you can just run it down the blade edges, it will just leave a small trace of oil. The oil pen is a super maintenance tool.
Secondly, don't be tempted to lend them to a friend because they have dropped or forgotten to bring theirs. Every stylist has a different way of holding and using their scissors, they might ruin your favourite pair!
