Lisa Shepherd 5 top tips

Current British Hairdresser of the Year nominee Lisa Shepherd, A
Kasho Scissors Brand Ambassador shares her secrets to scissor happiness.
· Investigate
– Scissors are THE most important tool to any hairdresser so if you are
going to invest in a pair its worth investigating the different scissor
brands that are available. Check their history, what they offer and why
they believe they are different from other brands.
· Quality – The
quality of the blades is immense. The blades should be extremely sharp,
smooth, bright and not dull looking. In my opinion Japanese Scissors are
the best as most are hand finished. Ask if the manufacturer hand
finishes the scissors.
· Maintenance – Before purchasing the scissors
ask them about their sharpening services, where they are done, how long
they take? A good service should not cost much and should take less
than two weeks. A great scissor brand should also provide a life time
guarantee too so do ask them if they can provide you with one.
· Dual
Purpose – Check that the pair of scissors you are interested in buying
offer you everything you need. If you need a new pair for slicing and
defining then ask the manufacturer if the pair you are buying will do
this, you wouldn’t buy a pair of heels if you wanted to go for a run!
· Technology
– Scissors aren’t just two blades that come together. They have complex
technology so that you get the very best balance, cutting and handling.
Ask them to explain this to you – be convinced you are buying the best.
